Harris County Clerk's OfficePUBLIC INFORMATION ACT (PIA) REQUESTS

Copies of land records (deeds, liens, etc.), marriage licenses, DBA’s, miscellaneous personal records and other records maintained by the County Clerk's office (CCO) are available on the CCO website at the Document Search Portal. Please do not submit a request based on the Public Information Act for these types of records.

The Public Information Act (PIA) provides the public the right to request access to information maintained by a government agency. Usually, the Public Information Act is used to obtain government documents that are not easily accessible to the public by other means.

Public Information Act Requests must be in writing or using this online PIA request page. Requests should include your name, address, contact information and as much description as you can provide regarding the records you are requesting. This office responds to all PIA requests in a manner compliant with the law.
